What You Need to Know Before You Book
How long is the tour, and what time does it start?
Plan on 6 to 6.5 hours, with one hour at Moraine Lake and one hour at Lake Louise. Departure time shifts through the season so the tour lands in the best evening light, so there is no fixed start time. Your exact departure is shown when you book and confirmed in your booking email.
Why sunset rather than sunrise?
Sunrise at the lakes has become extremely popular, and at peak times it can be busier than midday, which often means competing for a spot at the viewpoint. Sunset is the quieter end of the day. Fewer people, softer light, and no pre-dawn alarm. On many evenings we have Moraine Lake nearly to ourselves.
Is the Moraine Lake access fee included?
Yes. Moraine Lake access is included in the tour price. Private vehicles are no longer permitted on Moraine Lake Road, so guided transport is the practical way in. Our access covers your group's entry, with nothing extra to pay on the day.
Do we need a Parks Canada pass?
Yes. Every guest needs a valid Parks Canada pass to enter Banff National Park, and it is not included in the tour price. Please purchase online in advance at parks.canada.ca. If you are staying in Banff, you already need one.
Can we combine the sunset tour with stargazing?
We keep them separate on purpose. The timing does not line up in a way that does justice to either, so combining them tends to produce two compromised experiences rather than one good one. We would rather run each at its proper hour. If the night sky is what you are after, our Night Adventure is built for it.
Do you provide child safety seats?
Children under 6 who weigh 18 kg (40 lb) or less must travel in a child safety seat. We encourage you to bring your own. If you need to use ours, please contact us before booking to confirm availability, as a CAD $40 fee applies. Guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
